Our first featured match comes to us from Australia, at the Australian State Championships in Melbourne in Jan 2008.
The Aussie Nationals is a fiercely fought competition every year and the final in the mens grade in 2008 was no exception. The match was between Western Australia, the reigning champions from their hosting tournament in 2007, and Victoria, who had been improving steadily over recent years to challenge the top states.
The match was a classic encounter between the experience and cunning of a generally older WA team full of champion international players, and the youth and vigor of VIC which was a younger team, and included many of the younger and more recent australian internationals.
The game was a cracker to watch.
